To Confirmation students and parents:

Our Confirmation class will span the school year. We will meet on Sundays during the Sunday School hour (10:15-11:15 a.m.). We will start on September 18, 2016 and end on April 26, 2015. Confirmation Sunday will be May 21, 2017. Confirmands are anyone in 7th or 8th grade.

New 8th graders, I am happy to welcome you back! We will not repeat any of our lessons from last year, instead we will dive right in with new lessons. I am hoping that you will be great role models for our 7th graders.

New 7th graders, welcome! We (myself and the 8th graders) welcome you to the class. I hope you will find that we try to find a balance between classwork and fun.  There will be days that we need to concentrate more on the bookwork in order to get our lessons in. Then, there will be some days where we can be a little laid back. I am excited to spend the next two years with you, as you will be confirmed in 2017.

The expectations for Confirmation are outlined in the Confirmation Program Handbook . Please read it over carefully so that we can all be on the same page when Confirmation begins. I will be asking students to memorize selected Bible verses, the Apostle’s Creed, and the Lord’s Prayer because memorized scriptures is able to guide and give comfort as young people make important decisions throughout their lives. Therefore, I am asking you as parents to help you child memorize the assigned verses and to be involved in the life of the church through your own example and encouragement.

We will be using the CREDO curriculum this year. The three phases of the curriculum are: Know Your Story... Encounter the faith narrative from creation to Christianity. Confirm Your Faith... Embrace the essential beliefs and practices of The United Methodist Church. Live Your Commitment… Embody the confirmation vows and embark on the Christian discipleship journey.

Through Confirmation, I hope to instill a love for God, a love for all God’s children, and a love for the church. It is my hope that God and church becomes an important aspect of your child’s life now, and in the future.

If you have any questions about the materials before you, please let me know! I hope that you will prayerfully make your decision if your child will be involved in Confirmation this year.

God Bless,

Rev. Krystal Goodger
